We Were World Champions

30/05/2026 – 31/08/2026
Hey Museum Pannenstraat 138, 8300 Knokke-Heist
Opening hours HEY Museum

The Sportimonium is going on the road to the HEY Museum with a new temporary exhibition, We Were World Champions.

This exhibition is a perfect match for the Sportimonium. At its heart is Antwerp’s Olympic title in 1920, while also highlighting the career of local football hero Hector Goetinck: from player with the Front Wanderers to coach of Belgium at the 1930 FIFA World Cup.

These remarkable sporting moments also build a bridge to today’s football.

Alongside the Red Devils, national teams such as the Red Flamingos and the Special Devils are also given the recognition they deserve.

No sports exhibition is complete without some action! Take a penalty kick yourself and stand a chance to win a We Were World Champions shirt. More information about the competition is available on site. You can read the competition rules here.

The exhibition can be visited from Saturday 30 May until Monday 31 August, daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the HEY Museum in Knokke-Heist.
